And now for something completely different


Book a fossil dig day with a guide company. There are lots of them down that way, but got to be careful. Many will just drop you off on a creek that's publicly accessible (and sometimes not) and toss you a sift box and drive off. One that I know that's reputable is Palmetto Fossil Excursions, but they operate up near Charleston. There are also regulations around fossil collecting in SC, a good guide whill know what the regs are where you are collecting.

If you are interested, I could ask about one closer to HHI. I don't think there are an abundance of fossils at HHI proper, but they are there.

Stuff you can find is unbelievable. Megs, whale, crocodile, mastodon, mammothall depends on where you are in the fossil layers. SC is a real hot spot for fossil finds.
