The schedule really helps RPI
If you look at the records UVa's really stands out as not belonging in there. By Friday, (if the Liberty game wasn't postponed) they would have played 20 of their 23 games against #'s 9,10,11,12,15,16, 19, 43, & 48. They beat #12 3 times and #48 twice. I know most people here don't follow UVa softball, heck even most UVa fans don't if you look at their message board, but the team has improved greatly this year and has held late leads against Georgia, Duke, Clemson, and Louisville in multiple games only to lose them in the late innings as pitching has broken down. Most times over the past 10 years they would have been run-ruled in probably more than half of these games. While I know this isn't something boast about but they've only been run-ruled once this year. Even VT was run-ruled once (by the same team - Clemson) Just this weekend they split the 4 game series with NC State. So the talent and depth is better but the record still doesn't reflect the progress they've made. They came from a very deep hole left by the previous 2 coaches. Those of us who have watched over the past 4 years see a huge difference in the team. That being said, VT is light-years ahead of UVa right now. Keely by herself is basically worth 3-4 runs as a pitcher and the hitting on the team is out of this world. I'm just glad UVa only plays VT twice this year!
