Not a direct answer to your question, but here's his VT record year-by-year


2018: 21–33 (8-22 ACC, 7th Coastal)
2019: 26–27 (9–21, 6th Coastal)
2020: 11–5 (1–2)
2021: 10-8 (6-6)

This year's overall record is going to be skewed, due to so many of the games being in-conference games.

But I think, as long as a coach is showing progress, there's no need for hot seat talk at all. It's when a coach starts to (1) stagnate in mediocrity or (2) decline that hot seat talk starts.

That's why Fu is on the hot seat. VT is gradually getting worse under his direction.
