You don’t necessarily need a lawyer. Were you hurt or just

property damage? Either way you can present a claim against the at fault party’s insurance company. The property damage will be for exactly the cost of the car repairs and loss of use(rental car) while your car is in the shop. The injuries are a little different. You can negotiate an injury settlement based on medical bills, loss of income and pain and suffering. None of that requires an attorney. Several letters and accumulating the bills is all it takes and you can keep their third.

The main issue if the other insurance company does not accept responsibility/liability. At that point moving it to a courtroom with an attorney might be your best option.
