I hit a deer when I lived in MD, and was sure I ran over him.

Early morning in the dark, I backed out of the driveway and started up the hill. Just as I was shifting into 2nd gear, I saw a furry brown "flash" that hit the right front of my truck, then went down. I was sure it went under my truck. I slammed on the brakes, then looked out to the side to see the deer heading for the woods behind my house. He knocked my bumper out of alignment, broke the right headlight, and cracked the plastic grill that surrounded the headlight, but thankfully there wasn't any other damage.

My high school biology teacher drove a Corvette, and hit a deer during the winter "at speed." The entire front of the car shattered.

Let's just say I was counting my lucky stars after my deer encounter!
