It's amazing how basketball fans have no idea what happens on the defensive end of the court. All they care about is points scored.

Basketball is played at both ends of the floor, and both ends are critical to winning games.

Hence, Bede is a guy who helps you win games by a) starting the defense in a good position on almost every possession, and b) administrating the offense, even though he doesn't score a lot.
