How much time will this take? We changed cell carriers, moving from at&t
to TMobile. My final statement from at&t had them owing us.....wait for it.....1 cent. I thought to myself "Uh oh. I guess they'll just send me a check for a penny? I wish I could just tell them to keep it."
Nope. Guess what I got in the mail yesterday (but opened this morning)? A DEBIT CARD, with a one cent balance on it. And oh, by the way, it also has a $3.00 a month account fee, though there is some note about
"Please note that the $3.00 monthly fee does not apply during the period during which the card is valid and is entirely avoidable with any use of the Card within the valid through period."
I'm not 100% positive what that means. Is it "if I use the card before it expires, there's no fee?"
But in any case, how much time will I be spending contacting either at&t or Sunrise Bank, the card issuer, telling them to just cancel it and keep the penny? Or donate the penny to a worthy cause. Or who gives a damn, donate it to an UNworthy cause because, you know, it's a penny!
Of if you really have to, for accounting purposes, square the account, just send me a check for a penny. Not a card with a maintenance fee, even if that fee may be avoidable.
