When he was younger he did swim team and still swims and does jr Lifeguards at the beach in the summer. For years he was also on a track team and has done many 5ks and some 10ks. He still runs. Last week he competed in a 6k trail run. He is also on a mountain bike team and is an excellent climber. He is more of a xc racer as opposed to enduro. So he has all three necessary skill sets. He is lacking in road bike experience but otherwise his swim/run/bike skills are pretty good. He did a sprint back in 2019 when he just turned 11 (ocean swim, mountain bike trail, and 6k trail run) and finished middle third. He had never mountain biked before and now he’s really into it and has decided that since his biking has improved so much that he now wants to focus on bringing all of his sports together. Plus I think that he likes the fact that he is the youngest or almost youngest competitor. As a dad, I like the fact that it inspires him to stay in shape and that he likes doing it. That was a long winded answer but sums things up.
