Different works programs I access have different password rules. I actually

try to change all the work passwords that require regular changing at the same time, and use the same password for all of them until I'm forced to change them again in 6 weeks.

Except recently I created a password with a $ in it....and it worked on (guessing) 9 of our systems. But the 10th? Nope. $ was not an allowed special character.
