Drive between Flagstaff and Phoenix is very beautiful

I believe you travel through 6 different climatic zones on that drive. And yes, the temp definitely climbs as you head "down the hill". It's amazing what effect elevation and air pressure have on temperature.

My pastor in Phoenix had the exact opposite experience once. Left Phoenix to go to Flag in a convertible, beautiful spring day in The Valley Of The Sun, wearing shorts and short sleeves. Had top down until they hit Black Canyon City when the temperature started to drop. And drop. And Drop. By the time they passed Rimrock, it had started snowing and he couldn't believe the snowbanks that were still left from a major storm that had swept through a week prior.

Always check weather for where you are going, not where you are leaving from.
