We would go to the woods down the street (which at some point, every kid had caught a bit on fire). Caps! And there was an honor system. If you got shot, you had to own it; but that didn't mean there wasn't a daily "Got you!" ...."You did not! I got you first!" dispute. We worked shirt out as kids back then. Then there was the rule in some games if you got shot, you had to lay in place for however many seconds before re-joining.

On days we didn't do "army" we'd do "cowboys" and everyone wanted to be the indian.
