Agree - it's not where it needs to be and does have room for improvement

but not ready to move out and live on the streets broke either.

Two things I believe more than any other:
1. While we have a resource problem, we also have an allocation problem. I'm not 100% confident this elevation in spending and resources will be allocated correctly because it seems the same people are making those decisions as they always have. These are the same people who either did not know how far behind we were in staffing, facilities, etc. (unawareness - inexcusable in any industry) or they knew and did nothing about it. These are mainly the same people still making decisions. I can only hope they are learning from their mistakes.
2. I agree wholeheartedly with any and everyone who states we as a fan base collectively do not have a giving culture. 100% correct and affirmative. However, we have never gone about building a culture of giving from the top down. If you listen to the podcast with Charlie and Brad, they will tell you we missed the boat from a donations perspective because for probably several generations we focused on season tickets only. Fans were told "give money because that's what it takes to win." To me this is equivalent to a business saying "please invest. We will do something with the money and be successful." The onus should not be on the fans to determine how much we need to be successful and how much each would have to give to make that happen. That should come from a central place like the AD or Hokie Club along with a vision and plan for raising money, successfully applying it correctly, and executing a strategy once proper funding is in place.

What we need is leadership and we have had is management - and not that great of management either IMO. My hope is Charlie and Brad and their teams get this moving in the right direction as the sooner we start, the sooner we can start building the culture and machine we need to be competitive (not perennial national champions, will settle for competitive in the ACC at this point). It all comes back to leadership and vision to me.
