You are right. It's a ridiculous claim.

1. There's a lot that can be said about ND, but scheduling soft isn't one of them. The only thing that might negatively impact ND's future schedules is if other schools that they want to play can't fit them into their schedules. But that is already an issue now, and I certainly don't expect it to get worse.

2. If anything, with the question of ND independence settled and the new format if approved starting in 2023, other schools will be more, not less, likely to schedule ND.

3. In the NCAA at large, scheduling should improve OOC for several reasons. First, how can it get much worse? Many P5 schools OOC schedules go something like this: 3 cupcakes at home and 1 often-times neutral site P5 game. Not exactly challenging. Second, now that the CFP is at 12, teams can afford a loss, so that incentive will be there to play better teams. Third, an OOC loss won't impact a school's campaign to a conference championship. So let's say Ole Miss goes to Happy Valley in September and loses a close game. But, they run the table in the SEC and win it all. They will almost be a lock to get a bye. But under the old system, they were only taking the "Top 4". Champions or no champions. But let's say Ole Miss finishes 10-2 and loses to undefeated Georgia in the SECCG; chances are, they get an at-large bid most likely. And chances are the committee rewards them for playing a tough OOC game on the road, although we will have to wait to see how the committee values schedule vs. record.

4. And let's just say for the sake of argument that P5 schedules somehow get EASIER. Well if that happens, it just means that the P5 schools will be scheduling MORE G5 schools. So all the people whining about how the G5 is undeserving, should be happy that it will force the G5 to play a tougher schedule.

5. Lastly, the scheduling between the P5 and G5 will be interesting. If they play FEWER games, all that will mean is that the G5 will play more games against one another. And this will also serve a purpose for the country finding out which are the best conferences and the best teams among the G5. The selection committee of course will be interested. But fans will be interested as well. Right now, no one cares which conference is better, the AAC of the MWC. But in 2023, we will care.
