In defense of science...

Where has anyone stated conclusively the source was one or the other?

Everything I have seen has been tentative and equivocal... leaning towards natural causes last year... and more open to the lab leak possibility now.

The overwhelming majority of scientists are still not ready to make a conclusion one way or the other. But China's lack of cooperation is certainly a suspicious data point they should and seem to be recently considering.
