The second gen Tacoma is the same size as the first Tundra, so...


...you have to either concede the first gen Tundra was not a "full size" pickup, or that the second gen Tacoma is a full size pickup...lol. I argue they are both "midsize," just like the T100. Really the only difference was the first gen Tundra offered a 4.7L V8, and the largest engine you could get in the 2nd gen Tacoma was a 4.0L V6. Both are excellent engines. The second gen Tundra got the 5.7L V8, which is also an excellent engine, with more power that the previous truck engines.

It's funny you mentioned crew cab pickups. Did you know that Toyota, Nissan, and other Japanese manufacturers produced crew cab pickups in their original small pickups? I saw those in the Caribbean and wondered why they weren't selling them in the US. They eventually made their way to the US, but in the larger "mid-size" version of their trucks (as well as in their full size trucks).
