The only thing that's happened is the implosion of the Big XII is confirmed
That shouldn't be much of a shock. We've known it was on borrowed time overpaid for 12 when it had 10 and no one sponsoring a Channel. Nebraska and Oklahoma have now been successfully plucked from the Big 8. Texas and Texas A&M are now successfully plucked from the SWC.
And the SEC will make the first move to 16. The SEC already had the Texas Market, so there's not an add there. ESPN gets out of paying $15 million per year for the LHN, and the new weekly SEC game that ESPN took from CBS at a huge sum will now basically replace the LHN for Texas. ESPN also gets out of overpaying the Big XII.
Oklahoma came along for the ride. Now instead of being one of 2 tall saddles in their conference, they'll be one of 6. Remember only 0 or 1 loss teams get the top playoff seeds regardless of how hard the season. So good luck. They may dominate the SEC like Nebraska has the B1G.
I'd like to see the ACC save WVU. I'm not sure the ACC will, but I think that would help our regional rivalries. All of this is going to take at least 2 years, so there is time for the ACC to work on a plan. [Post edited by HOO86 at 07/23/2021 6:15PM]
