They like to recruit (and play in) California I imagine. Maybe getting into Texas might be a small consolation, but now they would be competing for recruits against the SEC in Texas.

But if it's about making USC happy, maybe it will happen.

On the hand, doesn't USC want to play in other time zones more? This wouldn't help much.

Maybe pods would be best.

Pac NW schools
AZ schools, TT, Utah
Col, OKSt, KU, ISU (old Big 8)

or some other combo
