Official visits...

I dont have an update on the official visitors, but I thought I would give some insight as to what goes on during an official visit.

Especially during a school year, most visits are going to happen on a Friday-Sunday timeline. Theyll arrive in late afternoon on Friday. If they flew, they would be picked up at the Roanoke airport which was part of my job when I worked for the program. We would drive them to check in to their hotel where their room was filled with candy, gear, snacks, etc. Friday evening there would be a team bonding activity that included the recruit(s) such as bowling, laser tag, etc. Dinner would be at a restaurant where you could either have a room or some space to yourself. At Radford, we always chose Kabuki Grill in Christiansburg because we could reserve a table and the cooking in front of you usually gave talking points to even the most reserved recruits. Only 2 or 3 players were invited to dinner and those guys were the hosts. So after dinner they leave with the hosts to spend the night in the apartments with the hosts.

Saturday morning there is a workout or practice with the team depending on the time of year. Recruit and family would watch. Then the family would get a tour of campus with the recruit. We always did ours in a golf cart, but smaller campuses could be walked. We would mix up where we did Saturday lunch, in Radford sometimes it was at Macado's near campus. If youre at a football school, then lunch could be tailgating for a Saturday game. When I was at the University of Akron, our football team was awful, so we took them to a soccer game instead, they were National Champions, so it was a good selling point about what could happen at Akron. After the game, they would have some down time in the hotel before dinner at the Head Coach's house with the entire team, staff, etc. After dinner the kids are again released to their hosts andbthey go party or do whatever they want to do while the staff visits with the recruits family.

Sunday morning, the recruit and their hosts meet the staff for breakfast at a local place. In Blacksburg, many times we chose Lefty's, in Radford, there was a different local place. In Akron, it was a place called "Wally Waffle" and it was incredible. I wouldve commit on the spot, but Im also a fatty.

You get a recap from the recruit and make your last pitch, sometimes you bring them into your office if youre looking to apply a little pressure and secure a commitment.

With the game being on Friday instead of Saturday, this schedule would obviously be different, but Im sure a lot of the components of it remain the same
