I would only drive a long distance for a used car if it was a private sale
for a great deal and the car was the specific make/model, color, condition and mileage I was looking for. Ask for tons of photos. A legit sale and good owner who cared for the car will be willing to take and send photos at your request. You HAVE to take it on a good test-drive, though. I always like finding the steepest hill I can find and stopping in the middle of the hill, then accelerating through some gears up. Everything should be smooth with no weird noises. Vehicle should also be able to hold its position in drive with the foot off the brake.
