Isn't all of this what the NCAA killed SMU's program over?

I guess this is exactly what they were worried about.

Supreme Court: "Schools can provide student athletes "education benefits" (*wink, wink) up to $6,000 a year."

*A few moments later....

SEC: "Hey kid, you want to play football in the SEC? Here's a check for $5,980."
