I was excited about the hire. The press was good, great even, but obviously it was the wrong choice. And I'll say this. My family and I were at a women's basketball game the Sunday after Fuente's hiring was announced. After the game, the women's bball team had an autograph session in the concourse after their game. We stayed with our kiddos and realized that Fuente and his girls were in line behind us. There were not many people there. When my husband realized who he was, he raised his hand and said "Welcome to Blacksburg". Fu didn't even acknowledge him... not even a head nod, just stared right back at my husband. Now he was with his family and I know it's not fair to judge based on that small of an interaction, but it was odd and rubbed us the wrong way. It also snowed our entire drive home and made a 2 hour drive home a 4 hour drive but that's another story.
