Read a research report this summer at my prior

Employer about how much money a married couple with two kids could make off the system without working. It included the extra benefits and the base benefits folks could get if they were successful taking advantage of all the perks both federal and state. It was shocking how many states this theoretical couple could make more than the average earnings for a family in the state.

This theoretical couple in NY could make the equivalent of $100k gross salary on state and federal benefits. Several other states were above $100k as well even without the extra Covid benefits.

Wish I still had a copy of the report but my former employer isn’t going to share it with me anymore.

Covid gave a lot of folks a chance to test this system of earnings out. It’s going to take a while or significant changes to ween them back into the work force.
