Something I read recently has me thinking that it’s unfair not to fire Fu..

In his book, No Pain, No Gaines, Chip Gaines writes of having to fire an employee that was a really nice guy but wasn’t living up to expectations. For a long time, Chip just couldn’t bring himself to do it.

Finally, Chip came to the conclusion that he was being unfair to the guy by not firing him. He reasoned that the guy could probably be a success if he was forced to find a job where his talents could be better utilized. By avoiding the issue, Chip was costing the fellow the opportunity to be successful somewhere else.

Fu has been a successful position coach, coordinator, and head coach at other programs. He’s a smart man who can, and probably will, be a success at his next stop. For whatever reason, he’s just not a good fit at VT.
