PSA - Fraud alert for those who (or more likely SOs) sell on Poshmark

Wifey was trying to sell one of my daughter's old dance costumes. She worked out this thing with the buyer where the buyer overnighted a 'cashiers check' drawn against a Capital One account (apparently) for $1350 bucks. The dress she was selling for $400.
She asked my wife to just refund the difference once the transaction was completed.

Thank GOD she asked me what to 'do' with it LOL. It's an old scamthey hope you will DEPOSIT the check in your account, and then send funds from YOUR account back to them in the difference. Then the bank finally figures out the check is bogus, and you are out the entire check amount PLUS the item you shipped to them (or sometimes they don't ask for the item to be shipped until the check 'clears')

In any case, we have the uncashed check and I'll be calling Capital One tomorrow to hopefully stop this thief. This is an old scam, I know..but after looking at the check, I can see how folks get drawn in. It was very carefully put together. Even had some hologram sticker on it lol.
