Good post. A few additional thoughts.

You really can’t tell what’s going on in the passing game just watching it on television. You can’t tell if the receivers are running good routes or getting open.

Burmeister is rarely letting it fly on the first read. And then he takes a quick second read. And then he looks to run. Again, unclear if it is his lack of confidence or receivers not getting open.

I think Turner and Robinson are both good receivers with great hands. But they are not quick or fast and they may not be getting separation. And I don’t know how good the scheme is for exposing the defense.

I don’t think Fuente likes to throw over the middle. He likes the outside plays and long sideline throws. Is this because of his philosophy or the quarterbacks’ shortcomings?

Burmeister may be hurt, or he may be lacking confidence. But he’s not letting it fly with authority.

I felt from day one of the season that our fate would be dependent on his performance in the passing game. I don’t think I was wrong.

Of course ultimately all the responsibility falls upon the coaching staff. Seems like they got off to a great start with Evans, and each successive quarterback was a step down from there.

It’s really hard to project which quarterbacks will be good from high school to college or college to pros. Can they keep poise in the pocket, move around, find second and third reads, and throw the ball accurately? I haven’t seen Hooker this year but he really struggled with second and third reads.

I thought Joe Burrow was the best college quarterback I’ve ever seen. Maybe he has a younger brother.
