Oh without a doubt. Its chicken and egg

Gotta win to recruit well. Can't recruit well without winning.

Beamer flipped the script in '93 and won through outstanding player development (top S&C in the country), finding diamonds in the rough (Druck/Moore etc) unconventional defense (smaller and faster), and special teams (pride & joy).

By '98 we were bringing in top 25 classes.

How does that happen again almost 30 years later? I have NO idea. There are very few hidden gems anymore. O's and D's are almost identical these days across college football, so I'm not sure you can scheme your way there. The S&C program definitely seems like it could be upgraded big time.

My hope is that we adopt what South Carolina (Holtz, Spurrier) and North Carolina (Brown) have done in the past by bringing in a big name coach near the end of his career that would bring instant credibility and notoriety to the program. Imagine bringing in a Bob Stoops type guy for 4 years? Make it rain in recruiting, win, get VT relevant again, then see if you can sustain it when that guy leaves. That's the only ray of I hope I see personally.
