Babcock wanted him to finish the season BUT Fuente wanted a guarantee

Babcock met with Fuente every Wednesday and Fuente didn't want to coach the rest of the season if Whit couldn't guarantee that he wasn't going to fire Fuente at the end of the season. Babcock did state that he wanted Fuente to finish the season.

I just thought the whole point of keeping him was the buyout money. $1.25M may not be a big deal if it's pro-rated over two seasons. I thought his payments would be combined and paid over the final two seasons of his contract. I don't think Fuente needs to worry about his next job or any job ever UNLESS he's has a bad gambling habit.
