I'm not an Auto Ins guy, so not positive. But that does sound iffy. Of


course what they don't want is people creating their own damage intentionally. In order to get a repair. But once they investigate that, and OK it wasn't intentional, they should be good to go.
I do know for a fact, if you had backed into your house, both the house and car would be covered by insurance. I saw that tons of times. Sounds like you got a new rep in some call center who is blindsided by some unusual circumstance.
I'd ask to speak with the supervisor.
