of the boys on a group text used a bad word, that the use of profanity is the sign of an unintelligent mind.

In the greater sense, the proliferation of profane speech in our society, particularly amongst our elected leaders, is a sign of the constant "dumbing down of America". I honestly don't get how "no f***ing way!" emphasizes surprise more than a handful of other adjectives, all of which are more expressive than a slang word for intercourse. The only explanation is that these people are either too stupid to learn a greater vocabulary or their teachers failed them in that regard.
