VT and UVA coaching histories... interesting stats.


Since 1950, VT has had 7 football coaches. Only 2 (Coffey & Sharpe) ended their tenure with losing records. Sharpe was only 1 game below .500.

In that same timeframe, UVA has had 13 football coaches. Only 3 ended with winning records (Guepe, Welsh, & Groh). 7 won fewer than 40% of their games. 3 had winning percentages of 25% or less.

Not hard to see why Bronco decided to call it quits. After winning nearly 70% of the time at BYU, it must have been depressing to become yet another name on the list of sub-.500 coaches at UVA.
