Glad to know that I'm not the only Hokie out there who believes in getting

everything they can out of a vehicle. My 1999 Ford Ranger finally gave up the ghost last summer. Was taking it in to get a new transmission when the check engine light came on. It had 264,000 on it. I didn't have the heart to have it scrapped. It was my first new vehicle - and the only new vehicle that I'd ever bought from Dad's Ford dealership. (It was nice to have connections.) But I didn't want a new car payment either - especially given that my wife's car needed to be replaced very soon. Talked with a couple of people and agreed with them: Old trucks never die - they just get new engines. Got a new engine, a new transmission, and a new AC (shop dropped the old one, so they replaced it for free). My paint job looks bad, but the body is solid, and now it runs like a million dollars. I'll probably expire before it does again.
