My guess is that the next two seasons will be really bad and VT will have losing records. But, if Pry is a decent coach, I suspect he will start to see dividends in years 3 and 4. I think he'll rely on a young roster for the first 2-3 years, and by year 4 should have an experienced team full of guys that he has developed. He seems to relate well to people, so I don't think there will be a lot of attrition to the portal, and probably not to the NFL either, as the talent level will be down a bit. But experience is worth several wins on it's own, in my book.

That's not to say that VT will be "good" in 4 years. Don't get me wrong - this is a complete rebuild. Justin Fuente failed in spectacular fashion and has left the program in shambles. Brent Pry has a steep hill to climb, but the good news for him is that the ACC is an embarrassingly bad/soft football conference. If he fields a team with even an ounce of pride and toughness, he'll automatically have a shot at winning the Coastal division of cupcakes. I think in 5-6 years, VT should be back to the level it occupied when Frank Beamer retired. Then it will depend on Brent Pry's coaching abilities to take the next step to competing for conference championships. I'm not sure Fuente could have left the program in worse shape...but I'm pretty sure Pry knew that before he took the job.
