VT is getting open looks...


The reason theyre getting open looks is the amount of distance teams have to cover in order to defend both the 3 on both sides of the floor. Alleyne isnt helping himself, but teams are still playing him as though hes a shooter, just as they were playing Storm when he was going through his drought.

Adding Radford adds driving, but allows one defender to sit in the paint. A defender who can help deny entry passes to Aluma and Mutts. If VT cant get the ball to Aluma and Mutts then adding Radford doesnt really matter.

VT lost Radford and Bede and are BETTER defensively (34th in the nation in defensive efficiency) than they were a season ago (or at any time with Radford in the lineup) so the argument he would help defensively is moot.

VT is in need of bigger wings. Alleyne needs to move to a reserve role behind Cattoor but cant because Maddox isnt ready to run the correct plays/actions/reads. His inability to do so affects the effectiveness of all 5 players on the court. Alleyne missing shots really only affects himself. Though he certainly needs to shoot less until he gets back in rhythm.

N'Guessan needs to be better, Mutts needs to value possessions more, Alleyne needs to find his old self. None of these issues have to do with Tyrece Radford.
