Don't know if we are to the point where we know that is going to happen yet


Have to see what happens beyond Omicron. Whether hospitalizations dwindle to nothing (which is certainly not the case now, as some areas are reporting they are as high as they have been at any time in the past year). Whether subsequent variants are weak in terms of effect, or less transmissible, etc. Just don't think we know what is going to happen long term yet, it's possible that after omicron dies out subsequent variants are far less transmissible while being fairly toothless in terms of being able to hospitalize/kill people as well.

But we are already in a situation where a lot of people get a yearly flu shot. So it's hardly unprecedented if something like that happens with Covid.
