Possibly, but your explanation doesn't fit the pattern of


Cone's usage last year. Because when Cone was on the floor all of a sudden we weren't running Mike Young's motion offense. We were running Tony Bennet's mover/blocker offense, with Cone as the only mover. Go watch the games again if you don't believe me. It was non stop staggered and double screens trying to get Cone a shot.

Then on the defensive end, well i don't even want to discuss what was happening there to try to protect Cone.

So I'm back to the overvaluing (and over-protecting their confidence) shooter theory.

I get it ... you have a guy who has proven that they can be a reliable scorer at this level, and now all of a sudden they aren't, or can't. You don't just yank them at the first sign of trouble like the message board mob demands. But at some point there has to be accountability and production. You can care about them and try to help them through, but you can't coddle them to the detriment of the entire team.
