But is it protection from catching it or protection from ending up in the


hospital? I got all 3 shots, still got the Omicron, hit me like a bad cold, so am glad I took them, I always thought that was the goal of the vaccine (avoiding bad symptoms and the hospital), protection from not catching it would be an added bonus, but long term not very realistic. But honestly just showing proof of vaccination is not really going to protect folks sitting around you if you are asymptomatic or with mild symptoms and yelling and breathing directly on someone's face, so there is some of it being done just for optics and some for liability.

In Europe, vaccine cards are being asked to be shown not necessarily to protect people, but to make the life of unvaccinated very uncomfortable (Macron admitted that publicly). Maybe that's the intention here, who knows.
