gone out and gotten the vaccine in a timely manner, well, there weren't / aren't 14 billion doses for the whole planet. Or 21 billion now that we have boosters needed as well. Mutations were going to happen in Brazil, India, South Africa, etc. And given global travel and trade, those mutations were going to come here.

Hospitalizations and deaths DEFINITELY would have been and would be lower, but the virus itself would still be making its' rounds. Personally, I'm at the point where I think that anyone not getting the vaccine is, well (charitably) making a bad decision, but myself and my family are all tripled, and we'll quadruple if we have to at some point. We're not going out to some crowded venue, and even semi crowded we're likely masked.

Everyone is going to catch some variation of this thing eventually. I hope that when I do....and my family....and everyone....that it's a version that's even 'milder' thank Omicron. We're still making decisions that 'ere on the safe side, but for the most part we're doing our full lives, just masked more often, and we'll rely on the vaccine to mitigate the worst outcomes.

So I blame unvaxxed for the high death tolls for the past year, but I don't blame them for the fact that we're still living with this thing. That was gonna happen anyway.
