If you are going to let the kickers decide the outcome of the game,

then might as well have dueling drop kicks from varying distances and places on the field. The winner is decided when 1 kicker is unable to match the other kicker's successful attempt. The 2 captains play rock, paper, scissors to decide which kicker will go first and which end of the field they will be kicking towards.
