Nobody is being fooled

Old Line, The B1G is not "fooling all the sports networks." They currently get $440 million per year, $250 from Fox and $190 from ESPN. Fox pays more because they get the CCG, OSU/Mich, and first-choice of weekly games. Those TV companies apparently make a tidy profit by selling ads to corporate advertisers. The figure $1 billion for the next contract didn't come out of thin air. The industry insiders know that is the "ballpark" figure based on viewership history. What insiders know, and we don't is: how much they charge for ads and how many ads they sell; how much can they increase their ad rates and still continue to get buyers; how much revenue ESPN would sacrifice if they don't have a presence in The B1G footprint. The fact that there are a half-dozen, or so, bidders for B1G content tells me that they all know that this content is gold.
None of these parties is going in blindfolded and nobody is being fooled.
