Adapting isn't the issue as much as age, depending on the job


As a semi-retired consultant, my experience is valuable and people will pay for it...when they need it. I've got a part time gig and I'm extremely fortunate to have it.

However, if I unretired, competing for a permanent management position like I left three years ago would be almost impossible. I'm going to lose that competition to someone 10-15 years younger every time, regardless of my qualifications. It would be more likely that they would hire the younger person for the full time job and contract with me to train them.
