Mizzou fan here; GOR thoughts

Some people believe that GOrs stop conference realignment. I question the idea that if a university switches conferences; the university will lose their media rights without any compensation. That does not make sense to me. The universities did not "give" their media rights to the conferences; instead they "sold" their media rights to the conferences to enhance the conference's ability to bargain for better media contracts with the networks.

Thus instead of losing their media rights totally I believe this is a more likely scenario to occur after the lawsuits. Using OU as an example; their media rights would stay with the Big 12. Thus, as per the GOR, OU's home games will be subject to being broadcast by the Big 12 media partners. The BIG 12 cannot sit on those games but instead must offer them to their media partners. OU would have to be paid a equal share of the Big 12 Tier 1 and Tier 2 media contract. But because the Big 12 had to replace OU; the split would be between 11 Universities instead of 10.

This scenario could also cause OU home games to be broadcast as Big 12 games of the week on the Big 12 affliated network time slots. Thus, if OU went to the B1G, and OU home game with Nebraska could end up being the Big 12's Tier 1 game of the week. If the Big 12's media partners pass on any OU game, then they can be broadcast on the BTN because the Big 12's tier 3 rights belong to individual universities.

Does anyone think this is a likely scenario after a lawsuit in front of a judge who specializes in contract law?
