ESPN isn't required to do much of anything. They own ACC for a LONG time.


The ACC's been forced into adding substandard programs in order to renegotiate that horrible original deal. And what are the stipulations of that look in exactly? They aren't going to give the ACC schools BIG or SEC money out of the kindness of their hearts. And it's pretty obvious to anyone paying attention that ESPN is not all that interested in building the ACC brand.

And about buying into the B1G Network, none of what you described prevented Maryland or Rutgers from making the move. In fact, the B1G bent over backwards to help them in. The B1G has every interest of moving into the South. That will help them grow their network and it will help them get the players to fill those 100K seat stadiums. They will help with such things for any defecting ACC schools. Maryland is within a couple of years of being in the black on their move. And they'll be leaving any remaining ACC schools in the dust if major changes are not made.
