Lounge golfers: Thinking of rolling back to a less "advanced" iron

The last 15 years or so I have been playing Mizuno T-zoid Pros. When I got them they were just going to be for a few years until I switched to a true blade. Well that day never came, partly because the T-zoids felt so good and partly because my skill level did not increase.

These last 5 years or so I've gotten married and had two kids. Golf time is next to zero but I still enjoy playing here and there, and I do enjoy chasing scores when I'm having an "on" day.

Has anyone here clubbed down so to speak, and opted to use an iron designed for those lower skilled players so they could get a little more enjoyment out of the game? I'm not looking at expensive sets- basically just clubs that I previously played like the Ping Eye 2 or even an old man club like the original Callaway Big Bertha. I'm sure technology has given even entry level iron sets good feel as well as the forgiveness I need.
