Idea: ND in ACC CCG (when > a Div. Champ)


Just spit-balling here -- I haven't thought it through.

What if ND could replace an ACC divisional winner based on some criteria that would ensure it only happens when ND is clearly superior to the team they are replacing?

Perhaps it only comes into play if ND is top 10 in the CFB rankings and the division winner is not. Basically, if ND has a shot at getting in the CFB then it gets to play the better division winner to pad its resume. Or it could pad the better division winner's resume if they win. Either way the chances that the ACC CCG winner would be in the CFB would improve. ND could decline in any given year if it thinks its resume is good enough.

I think this would be good for ND. Might help the ACC too in some circumstances. Definitely could improve the ratings for the ACC CCG when ND plays in it.

If the ACC did this, ND and the ACC would have to have some agreement about how any CFB money earned would be split since they would be partnering together to get one of them in there.
