Depends on how you define "undersize." I quickly glanced

through the WNBA rosters to see what type of woman (height and weight) currently plays the 4 and 5. It appears that if the woman is at least 6'2, then teams will play her at the 4 and/or 5. Some teams have women playing both positions and some just 1 position.

Also, I noticed that majority of the women playing the 4 and 5 are between 190lbs and 199lbs. There are few who weigh in the upper 180s and even fewer over 200lbs. You have to keep in mind that whenever I watch women's basketball (even when I was growing up), the profile of "big women" seemed to fall into 2 general types; the Lisa Leslie type or the Rebecca Lobo/Kara Wolters type. Now by no means did I consider any of these women fat because they had to be in great shape to be able to play over 30 minutes in the game. It seems like it is somewhat rare for a big woman to be big and strong enough to handle the pounding received down low in the paint and yet agile/fit enough to run up and down the court. Britney Griner may be the first woman to have that combination.
