It also means if you take the long view (something you clearly are incapable of), BC will not always be at the bottom of football and basketball. And because they still have a foundation of a solid athletic program, someday, at some time in the not so distant future, they won't be at the bottom. Will they ever compete with Clemson & FSU in football or Duke & UNC in basketball consistently? No. But can they be competitive in both sports? Sure. It's cyclical.

It's a zero-sum game. Much as the shallow observers on this forum think Rutgers is a ball and chain for the Big10 right now, they think the same of BC - when in fact, programs like those schools make it more likely one of the conference's programs makes the football playoff and more programs make March Madness, not less likely.

For better or worse, conference strength is defined by the top, not the bottom - or even the middle. And programs like BC and Rutgers make the top appear stronger, not weaker.
