Letter to Whit
I've never done this but I sent an email to Whit Babcock. I don't know that it helps if he really wants to go but I wanted to make my feelings about the matter known.
Dear Mr. Babcock,
I am a die hard loyal Hokie fan. My father and I have had season tickets to VT football my entire life, 31 years, and he well before that. Even now that I live in New York I pay for my half so that we can continue to support the programs as best as we can. I love Virginia Tech. I am also a former wrestler and I can say nothing has excited me more over the last few years than watching the growth of our program into a national power house. Thanks to the new ACC network I can watch on my TV as VT competes for a national championship every match, and it's so close. I believe in my heart of hearts we will win one in the sport in the next 5 years. All of this I credit to Kevin Dresser. VT wrestling will be Virginia Techs first team National Championship. If we commit, IF we keep moving forward as we are now.
I have never once written the VT athletics department directly. I am doing so now to ask you to match any offer thrown Coach Dresser's way. I am reading these rumors, and while I hope they aren't true, if they are I hope you will reach out to coach and show him how much he means to us and to VT.
I think you have done an amazing job thus far at VT. I know wrestling is not the money maker that football or basketball is, but I hope you can see the benefit we receive from it. The passion of the fans, the brand recognition and the weight the name Virginia Tech now carries within that community is huge.
We need a national Championship at Virginia Tech, if you invest and show, not just in words but in action, our appreciation to Coach Dresser I have no doubts we will get it.
Thank you,
