Don't lose perspective of the sport and where VT is at.

Most seem to forget several things:
1) The big 4 (PSU, IOWA, OK ST, tOSU) have a storied history, massive financial backing and a long line of AAs that stay in the room after their careers are over (financial backing helps).
2) The ACC, while improving massively the last 5-6 years, does not have the history of the grind the Big 10 has perennially.
3) All the ACC teams have pretty much started from scratch over the last 10 years. Most were after-thought schools who couldn't even compete against a BIG 10 team years ago.
4) Getting a national champion takes a lot more than just being a good wrestler. Sometimes a little luck, "feeling great" during tmt. time, getting a good spot in the bracket helps.
5) While we have had some good recruits over the last 5/6 years, we have not gotten that top recruit.

What most are forgetting, the top teams are getting multiple top recruits and it is a percentage game. For every champ they have had think of how many were busts over the years (Alton Bros., Winston, Marstellar, and on and on).

From where VT started 10 years ago to date, it is night and day. And they may never make a Natl. Champ run. That doesn't take away from the kids individual success. How many teams have never won a team championship? How many have never had an individual champ? The numbers will shock you.

Robie is an excellent coach and SHOULD be given the head job. Most schools would KILL to have him in charge of a team. People lose perspective of the fact that these kids are student athletes. VT has in the last 6 years or so produced several advanced degreed athletes, Masters Degrees, and PhD degree athletes (even a Medical Doctor) who will do big things in LIFE.
As a father of an athlete, I would take that anytime.
