Great post - I've also seen a considerable expansion in youth wrestling

..particularly in the southeast part of the US. My sons have wrestled for the last seven years and I've noticed a dramatic improvement in talent coming from states that previously wouldn't have anyone competing at the national level (FL, GA, TN, NC,TX). That said, we wrestled in PA and the talent-level there is amazing with OH not that far behind. VA has very solid talent and there are so many studs in PA and OH, we can definitely recruit well from Blacksburg. The other thing that has leveled the playing field is access to the best coaches and clinics (Jordan/Chertow/JRob, etc) as well as the organization levels of the national tournaments so you can compete with the best kids nationally. All of this has made a much deeper pool of blue chip talent that has been tested at the national level. I agree we are behind in some of the financial support but we are within striking distance and have put together a great track record over the last 5-10 yrs. I see a lot more kids walking around with VT gear on at the national tournaments. Kids know about VT. Congrats again to our five AA - that is quite an accomplishment.
