I've had many, many nails/screws, etc in tires

One time my S.O. ran over a plate from a car battery tray which sliced through our Trooper's tire.

When my school was going through reconstruction in 2004, I had FOUR flats due to nails in the parking lot. I was pissed.

Last year, my new Tacoma picked up a slow-leaker. Since the vehicle was under warranty, I took it to the local Toyota dealer where they found the blither, but determined that it was too close to the sidewall to safely patch. $195 was what they wanted for a new tire. I looked at the spot and determined that the nail was about 1/2 inch from the sidewall which steeled my resolve to get it plugged. Sure enough, I found a really great guy our near Dixie Caverns (Quality Tire) and he plugged it with no problems. A year later, after heavy use, no problems; no worries.
